Fire Restoration Process
When dealing with a fire, there are a few more steps involved than other restoration processes:
- Step 1: Fire Damage Evaluation
Once our IICRC certified technicians arrive, they will take a survey of the damage present. They will identify the materials that are salvageable as well as the unsalvageable materials. In addition, soot damage, and water damage levels will be evaluated.
Upon completion a specific fire restoration plan will be presented and signed off with the property owner.
- Step 2: Board up and Tarp Installation
It is quite common in cases of a fire that tarps need to be installed to cover openings in the building envelope as well as board-up on broken windows. If necessary, our technicians will secure the space for safety measures before moving forward with the restoration process.
- Step 3: Remove Unsalvageable Items
Our technicians will save as much as they can, however charred building materials need to be removed due to safety reasons. Carpet, carpet padding and other porous materials can be saved if the damage was only smoke and water related.
- Step 4: Water Removal
Next, any standing water will be extracted and dehumidifiers, air movers and HEPA filtered air scrubbers will be introduced into the space. These tools will assist in the proper drying of any affected areas.
